A strategy meeting was held in Brussels to discuss the current state of affairs, the advocacy priorities and the future possibilities for engagement vis-à-vis the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and those in charge of implementing Recommendation 8 to prevent NPOs from being abused for terrorist financing.
The meeting discussed the recently concluded FATF plenary meeting and the way forward. Country snapshots on evaluation/coalition building/way forward were presented by NPO representatives from Kosovo, Spain, UK, The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. The risk-based approach and the new evaluation methodology were discussed. And next steps in terms of advocacy priorities and upcoming possibilities related to CTF/AML were set out.
