DPI Uganda Policy Brief on why NPOs in the country should not be considered obliged entities
Global NPO Coalition member Defenders Protection Initiative, Uganda, has published this policy proposal for the Financial Intelligence Authority of the country, providing the rationale for the de-classification of NPOs from the list of accountable persons under the 2nd schedule of the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2013 (as amended).
The policy brief is anchored in the findings, reached after scrutinizing Uganda’s legal framework, recommendations from Uganda’s National Risk Assessment, and FATF Recommendations, as well as guidance to Member States on the proportionate and effective implementation of Recommendation 8.
