Members of the Global NPO Coalition, ECNL, ICNL and HSC, held a three-day workshop in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan for NPO participants from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Ukraine on 'The Impact of AML/CFT Regulation on Civil Society: Building Capacity and Partnerships to Protect Civic Space'. Discussed were the global CT/CFT frameworks and stakeholders, the FATF processes including Risk Assessments and Mutual Evaluations, and, most importantly, how to engage around these issues at the local, national and regional levels. Derisking, or the financial access issues facing NPOs, was also discussed. A representative from UNODC as well as the Kyrgyz FIU attended the workshop on Day 3. For the full agenda, see here.
