New E-Learning Platform Equips Civil Society to Navigate FATF Recommendation 8

A new e-learning platform developed by Coalition members Miguel de la Vega and Gabriela Pellón is now available to support nonprofit organizations in understanding FATF Recommendation 8 and the broader impact of countering the financing of terrorism measures on civil society.

In a context where nonprofit organizations are increasingly affected by complex anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism frameworks and heightened scrutiny, access to clear, practical, and accessible guidance has become essential to support informed engagement and protect civic space.

The program offers practical tools to help organizations navigate FATF-related standards, strengthen their integrity, foster trust, and engage more effectively with governments and financial institutions. It translates key FATF concepts into applied guidance, including typologies of nonprofit misuse, good and bad practices, and approaches to participation in mutual evaluation processes.

While grounded in the lived experiences of civil society in Latin America, the tool is designed to be relevant for nonprofit organizations in other regions facing similar regulatory and operational challenges. A second version is already in development, which will expand the platform with additional case studies and experiences from Africa and Asia.

The platform is available in both Spanish and English for nonprofit organizations seeking to strengthen their understanding of FATF Recommendation 8 and engage more strategically in related policy and regulatory processes.
