New Podcast Series: Risky Business
Coalition Co-chair Human Security Collective has launched a new podcast series Risky Business, that explores the challenges nonprofits face under the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) counter-terrorism financing framework.
The series explores FATF Recommendation 8 (R8), its impact on the nonprofit sector, and the evolving consequences for civil society. With a focus on three key areas—R8 itself, the national context, and the market—the podcast examines how nonprofits navigate the complex landscape of regulatory and policy frameworks designed to combat financial crime.
Risky Business also addresses FATF's accountability, its decision-making processes, and the broader implications of its policies on civil society worldwide. Over the course of the episodes, the hosts set out to interrogate: should we keep on refining FATF Recommendation 8 through an evolutionary approach, or is it time for a more revolutionary reimagining of how nonprofits are treated within the global framework?
Hosted by Sangeeta Goswami, Thalia Malmberg, and Floor Knoote, this podcast is based on the foresight piece The Future of FATF Recommendation 8, co-authored by the hosts and Lia van Broekhoven.
