Regional Workshop (SE Europe) on Supporting the Prevention of Abuse of NPOs for the Financing of Terrorism
14-16 July 2015, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina Organised with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Global Center on Cooperative Security, in consultation with the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED) and the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the workshop brought together charities regulators, policymakers, law enforcement and financial intelligence unit officials, and representatives from the non-profit sector across South-Eastern Europe. It was aimed at providing a platform to share perspectives, build consensus, and foster cooperation and collaboration toward the protection of the sector from terrorist abuse. Presentations and discussions focussed on issues related to relevant international standards and regional implementation, risk assessment, information gathering and investigation, outreach to the non profit sector and the financial services sector, and NPO perspectives on governance, management, and operations.
