Coalition Members Participate in Vienna Workshop on Revised FATF Standards
In April, members of the Global NPO Coalition on FATF took part in a regional workshop held in Vienna, hosted by the OSCE and the EU Global Facility on AML/CFT. The event convened government and civil society representatives from Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan), together with the FATF regional body EAG.
Participants explored effective ways to implement the updated Recommendation 8 that uphold FATF standards while preserving an enabling environment for non-profit organizations. Sessions offered valuable insights into practical approaches for risk assessments, improving financial access for NPOs, and applying proportionate mitigation measures sensitive to local contexts.
The workshop highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue and collaboration between regulators and civil society to develop balanced, risk-based AML/CFT frameworks that support, rather than hinder, the vital work of non-profit organizations.
