In the Shadow of Counter-Terrorism: Debunking Government Restrictions on Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)
Governments around the world often impose restrictions on CSOs, justified in terms of preventing terrorism and terrorist financing. Whether introduced as standalone laws or disguised in various administrative provisions, such restrictions curtail the ability of CSOs to conduct activities or raise funds. Participants in this session learned about the global recommendations for counter-terrorism measures, as well as CSO responses from around the world, thereby increasing their abilities to counter unjustified restrictions.
