Representing the Global NPO Coalition on FATF, HSC was invited to the 16th Global Counter-Terrorism Forum (GCTF) Coordinating Committee Meeting, held on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly session in New York on 23rd September. In a panel on 'Safeguarding Civil Society and Humanitarian Operations while Countering the Financing of Terrorism' moderated by the Global Center on Cooperative Security, the unintended effects of counter-terrorism measures on the work of civil society were discussed. The panel highlighted the recent developments in countering the financing of terrorism (CFT) policies, potential challenges experienced by civil society organizations as a result of these measures, and opportunities to engage in dialogue on guidance for possible ways ahead. HSC spoke about the history of engagement on these issues, the various levels of ongoing engagement and the challenges that remain.
